Bocalex C 1000 (10 Effervescent tablets/tube)

Indications

Treatment of scurvy. Supplement of ascorbic acid. Only use in short time.

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to any of the active substance or excipients. Large dose of ascorbic acid should be avoided in patients with: deficiency of glucose – 6 – phosphate, dehydrogenase, history of nephrolithiasis, hyperoxaluria, thalassemia.

Dosage and administration

Adults: 1 effervescent tablet daily.

Precaution

Prolonged use of large doses of ascorbic acid may result in scurvy when intake is reduced to normal. Use vitamin C with caution for pregnancy. Ingestion of large doses of the vitamin during pregnancy has resulted in scurvy in neonates. Hemolysis has been associated with ascorbic acid administration in neonates with glucose – 6 – phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency and in otherwise healthy premature neonates. Hyperoxaluria may develop after large doses of ascorbic acid. Ascorbic acid may cause acidification of the urine, occasionally leading to precipitation of urate, cystine, or oxalate stones, or drugs in the urinary tract.

Store at temperature below 300C. Avoid direct sunlight and moisture.
