Calcium Hasan 500mg (20 effervescent tablets/tube)

Indications

Prevention and treatment of calcium deficiency. Calcium supplement as an adjunct to specific therapy in the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis. Rickets and osteomalacia, in addition to vitamin D3 therapy

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. Hypercalcaemia (e.g. due to hyperparathyroidism, hypervitaminosis D decalcifying tumors, severe renal failure, bone metastases), severe hypercalciuria calcium-lithiasis and renal calculi. Long term immobilization accompanied by hypercalciuria and/or hypercalcaemia.

Dosage and administration

Adults and children: 1000 mg per day (2 effervescent tablets/day).

Precaution

• Calcium Hasan 500mg should be administered with caution in patients with sarcoidosis; patients with severely impaired renal function, especially those also receiving aluminium-containing preparations.
• If necessary the dosage should be reduced or calcium therapy discontinued in mild hypercalciuria (exceeding 7.5 mmol/24 hours in adults or 0.12-0.15 mmol/kg/24 hours in children) or renal failure, or where there is evidence of stone formation in the urinary tract.
• Calcium Hasan 500mg contains about 206.66 mg of sodium per tablet.
• Calcium Hasan 500mg effervescent tablets can be used during pregnancy and lactation in case of a calcium deficiency. During pregnancy, the daily intake of calcium should not exceed 1500 mg. Significant amounts of calcium are secreted in milk during lactation but do not cause any adverse effects to the neonate.
• Patients should be aware of how they react to drug before driving or operating machinery.
