Distinguishing between macrosomic, normal, and premature babies
In neonatal medicine, you shouldn't just look at "how much the baby weighs" to assess whether a baby is normal. Doctors usually consider two main factors: gestational age at birth and weight relative to gestational age. Therefore, macrosomic babies, normal babies, and premature babies are three different concepts, but sometimes they can overlap.
